Herne Katha is a web documentary series which shows the everyday stories of ordinary people and communities in Nepal. From the very outset, Herne Katha’s stories have centered the lived experiences and diversity of people and communities that have been historically unheard, marginalized or silenced. In doing so, our stories are inherently political.

Herne Katha provides an alternate approach to storytelling. Stories of Herne Katha come from diverse geographies, cultures, and communities. However, beyond the sheer matter of visibility, Herne Katha has tried to challenge the normative representation of underrepresented communities within Nepal, and the narrative of Nepal in the global media landscape.

We want to tell our own stories. And so do the communities we hear from.

In our journey, we have realized that we have a long way to go. We look for any opportunity to collaborate with universities, students and the younger generation who are at the frontlines of change.
